Together they answer a practical question: will they play loud enough from my phone, or do I need an amplifier?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"kz-box kz-box--resumen\"><p class=\"kz-box__title\">In short<\/p><ul><li><strong>Impedance (\u03a9):<\/strong> the resistance the earphone presents. The lower it is, the easier it is to drive.<\/li><li><strong>Sensitivity (dB):<\/strong> how much volume it gives from the same signal. The higher it is, the louder it plays.<\/li><li>Almost all KZ models sit between <strong>15 y 45 \u03a9<\/strong> and above <strong>100 dB<\/strong>: they work with any phone.<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What impedance is<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the earphone's opposition to the flow of current. A high-impedance earphone needs more voltage to play at the same volume. IEMs usually have low impedance, between 15 and 50 \u03a9, precisely so they work with portable devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What sensitivity is<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It tells you how loud the earphone plays for a given power. A 112 dB model will be clearly louder than a 98 dB one on the same output at the same level. Where a better source does make a difference is with the planars, the <a href=\"\/en\/product\/kz-pr3\/\">KZ PR3<\/a> and the <a href=\"\/en\/product\/kz-prx\/\">KZ PRX<\/a>, because of their low sensitivity. A USB-C dongle with a good DAC is usually enough; you do not need a desktop amp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phones without a headphone jack<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your phone has no 3.5 mm output you need a USB-C or Lightning adapter. That adapter is actually the DAC and amplifier, so its quality matters. The alternative is a Bluetooth adapter for the earphones themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Background hiss with very sensitive earphones<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A very sensitive earphone can reveal a faint background hiss on noisy sources, such as some laptop outputs. It is not a fault in the earphone.
