In short

- KZ stands for Knowledge Zenith.

- It is a Chinese brand specializing in in-ear earphones.

- It is known for its multi-driver hybrids at low prices and for using a detachable cable on almost all its models.

Where it comes from

According to information shared by the brand and its distributors, KZ was founded in 2008 and began selling online in China from 2010. Its international breakthrough came in the middle of the decade, when it started selling on platforms such as AliExpress and Amazon. One of the models that did most to make it known was the ZST, a very low-priced hybrid launched in 2016.

The KZ ZST is still in the catalog and you can find it in our store.

Why they offer so much for so little

-

- Direct online sales. No middlemen or big advertising campaigns.

- In-house driver manufacturing. KZ develops its own balanced armatures and dynamic drivers.

- Many models and frequent revisions. Every few months there are new versions (Pro, Pro X, Pro 2…) that reuse parts already developed.

- Shared design. Almost all share a shape, connector and cable, which lowers production costs.

What makes a KZ a KZ

-

- Detachable 2-pin cable. It can be changed or swapped for a Bluetooth adapter.

- Worn over the ear, like stage monitors.

- Several driver types: dynamic, hybrid, balanced armature and planar.

- Versions with and without a mic for almost every model.

How to read the names

KZ names are letters and numbers, and the suffixes indicate revisions: “Pro” is usually an improved version of the original, and “X” or “2”, later revisions. So the ZS10 Pro gave way to the ZS10 Pro X and the ZS10 Pro 2. The latest is not always the most expensive or the best for you: it depends on what changes in each.
