The KZ Castor and the KZ Castor Pro share an unusual idea: two dynamic drivers per side and four switches to tune the sound. The Pro is the revision of the original model. Here is what changes.

Two dynamic drivers
In the Castor, one driver handles the bass (20 to 200 Hz, according to KZ) and the other the mids and treble. The Castor Pro keeps the split but fits a larger mid/treble driver: both become 10 mm.
How the switches work
Each earphone has four switches that you move with the included tool. For the Castor Pro, KZ details it like this: 1 raises the bass by 1 dB; 1 and 2, by 2 dB; 3 raises mids and treble by 1 dB; 3 and 4, by 2 dB. On the Castor, two switches act on the bass and two on the treble, for up to 16 combinations.
Harman or Bass version
Both models are sold in two starting tunings. The Harman version follows the Harman reference curve, which is more balanced. The Bass version starts with boosted bass. The switches adjust the sound from that base, so it is worth choosing the version to suit your taste.
