Man wearing a KZ Bluetooth adapter holding a tangled cable

How to make your KZ wireless: AN01, AZ09 and AE01

Reviewed 6 Oct 2026 · Data from KZ’s official spec sheetsFor: Everyday and sport Listening to music

One advantage of KZ earphones is the detachable cable. That lets you swap it for a Bluetooth adapter and turn your wired earphones into wireless ones, while still being able to go back to the cable whenever you like. This guide explains how it is done and which adapter to choose.

In short

  • You need an adapter with the same connector as your earphone: Pin B or Pin C.
  • KZ AN01: the most complete, with the LDAC codec and 40 h with the case.
  • KZ AE01: Bluetooth 5.4 and 20 h with the case.
  • KZ AZ09: the only one available in both Pin B and Pin C.

How it works

The adapter is a hook-shaped module that sits behind your ear. It has the same 2-pin connector as the cable: it plugs into the earphone, which then receives sound over Bluetooth. Each adapter has its own battery and is stored in a charging case, just like regular wireless earbuds.

Step by step

  • 1. Check the connector. See whether your earphone is Pin B or Pin C; we state it on each product page.
  • 2. Remove the cable. Pull the connector straight out, without twisting or levering it.
  • 3. Plug in the adapter. Each module is marked L (left) or R (right). Press until it sits firmly.
  • 4. Pair. Take the adapters out of the case and find them in your phone's Bluetooth menu.

Which to choose

  • If your earphone is Pin B (EDX, EDC Pro, ZST): the KZ AZ09 in the Pin B version.
  • If you want the best sound quality: the KZ AN01, for its LDAC codec (on compatible Android phones).
  • If you want to spend less with Pin C: the KZ AZ09 in the Pin C version.

What to know first

  • Bluetooth compresses the sound. With a cable you always get the full signal; with an adapter you gain convenience.
  • Low-sensitivity models play quieter. That applies to the planar PR3 and PRX.
  • iPhone uses AAC. LDAC only works on compatible Android phones.

Frequently asked questions

Can I go back to the cable?

Yes. Remove the adapter and plug the cable back in; nothing is lost.

Do they work with other brands of earphones?

Only if they use 0.75 mm 2-pin connectors with the same type of fit. We do not guarantee it outside KZ.
