Three cables for KZ earphones: 8-core braided, USB-C and silver-plated 3.5 mm

Cables for KZ earphones: which to choose and when to replace yours

Reviewed 11 Oct 2026 · Data from KZ’s official spec sheetsFor: Listening to music Gaming and films Playing live and rehearsing

The cable is the part of an IEM that takes the most punishment: tugs, kinks next to the plug and tangles. On almost all KZ models it is detachable, so you can swap it in seconds without tools. It lets you replace a damaged cable, but also add a microphone or connect the earphones to a phone without a jack.

Notice

We're not selling replacement cables right now. This guide helps you choose one that fits your KZ.

In short

  • Before buying, check whether your KZ earphones are Pin B or Pin C. Current KZ replacement cables are Pin C.
  • Choose by use: 3.5 mm replacement, USB-C for phones without a jack, dual microphone for calls and gaming, or 8-core if you want a sturdier one.
  • A new cable does not change the character of a pair of earphones: it changes the connection, the comfort and the durability.

First things first: the connector

Wired KZ earphones use a 2-pin 0.75 mm connector that comes in two shapes. Pin C is found on almost all current models. Pin B is used on older models, such as the KZ EDX, the KZ EDC Pro and the KZ ZST. A Pin C cable does not fit a Pin B earphone properly. How to tell them apart at a glance: Pin B or Pin C.

When it is worth replacing

  • One side cuts out or crackles when you move the cable near the plug.
  • The sleeve is cracked or the cable has gone stiff.
  • You bought the earphones without a microphone and now you want one.
  • You changed phones and the new one has no headphone output.

What each one offers

Silver-plated 3.5 mm. It is a flat silver-plated oxygen-free copper cable. It replaces the original and is sold with or without microphone.

USB-C. The plug has the DAC chip inside, so it connects straight to the phone with no adapter. All the ways of doing it are in wired earphones on a phone without a jack.

KZ M2. It has two condenser microphones in the remote, one at the front and one at the back. The USB-C version adds a three-mode equalizer. It is 1.25 m long.

8-core. It is braided from eight blue and silver cores with 784 strands in total. It is thicker than the stock cable, tangles less and stands up better to daily use. It has no microphone.

Does the sound change?

Do not expect a cable to transform your earphones. What changes is the practical side: durability, tangling, the plug and whether it has a microphone. The exception is the USB-C cable: because it includes its own DAC, the sound then depends on that chip rather than on the phone's output.

How to swap it

  1. Hold the earpiece and pull the connector straight out, without twisting or levering it.
  2. Check the L and R marks on the new cable.
  3. Line up the two pins with the holes and push straight in until it seats.
  4. Make sure the curved guide of the cable points up, so it runs over the ear.

If all you need is more length

To reach the computer, console or TV you don't need to change the cable: a 3.5 mm extension cable adds 1, 2 or 3 metres. It's 4-pole, so it keeps the microphone and the remote.

Frequently asked questions

Do these cables fit any KZ?

They fit those that use Pin C, which is almost all current models. The KZ EDX, the KZ EDC Pro and the KZ ZST use Pin B.

Can I use a cable from another brand?

Yes, if it is 2-pin 0.75 mm and the same type, B or C, as your earphones.

What if I would rather go without a cable?

Then a 2-pin Bluetooth adapter is what you need. We explain it in how to make your KZ wireless.
