KZ Vader Pro: in-ear monitors with 6 dynamic drivers for rehearsing and playing
The KZ VADER PRO are in-ear earphones with three dynamic drivers per side, six in total, each dedicated to the bass, the mids or the treble. They come in a standard or a Tuning version with switches, without microphone, with microphone and 3.5 mm jack, or with microphone and USB-C plug.
Although many people use them to listen to music, they also suit musicians who want to hear themselves clearly in rehearsal. Each of their three dynamic drivers per side handles one band (lows, mids or highs), and the Tuning version adds switches to adjust the tuning to your instrument.
They are worn with the cable over the ear so they stay put while you play, and the 2-pin cable is detachable: if it breaks, you replace the cable, not the earphones. By sealing the ear canal with the ear tips they reduce the noise of the rehearsal room, so you don't have to turn the volume up as much to hear your part. They plug into an IEM bodypack, the headphone output of the mixing desk or your phone through a 3.5 mm jack.
- 3dynamic drivers per earpiece
- 5 Hzto 45 kHz frequency response
- 18 Ωimpedance
- 2versions: standard and Tuning
Sound
From about 5 Hz to about 45 kHz
The bass driver is long-excursion and, according to KZ, goes down to about 5 Hz. The treble driver, thanks to its magnetic circuit and acoustic chamber, reaches about 45 kHz, above the usual 20 kHz.
It has 18 Ω impedance and 106 dB sensitivity, so it gets loud enough from a phone.
Versions
Standard version or Tuning version
KZ tunes the VADER PRO using the HM curve as a reference. The Tuning version adds a filter with four switches per earpiece:
- Switch 1: raises the bass one step.
- Switches 1 and 2: raise the bass two steps.
- Switch 3: raises the mids and treble by one level.
- Switches 3 and 4: raise the mids and treble by two levels.
- All on: raises the overall level.
Connection
Optional dual microphone
The microphone versions use KZ's dual-microphone cable, designed for calls and voice chat. The USB-C version plugs straight into phones and computers with that port.
Connection
Braided silver-plated cable and wireless mode
The cable is double-braided high-purity silver-plated copper, 120 cm long (±5 cm), and connects with a 0.75 mm 2-pin connector. With a KZ Bluetooth adapter they can be used without a cable.
Wireless mode with a Bluetooth adapter is for listening to music; to monitor yourself while you play, use the cable, which has no latency.

KZ VADER PRO frequently asked questions
Can they be used as in-ear monitors for playing live or in the rehearsal room?
Yes. Worn with the cable over the ear and with the right ear tip size, they reduce the noise of the rehearsal room. The usual setup is to plug them into an IEM bodypack that receives a send from the mixing desk, so each musician gets their own mix; you can also plug them into the headphone output of the desk.
And for listening to music or gaming?
Yes. Although we recommend them mainly for playing, they work just as well for listening to music on your phone or computer and for gaming. Wired, there is no latency.
What is the difference between the standard and the Tuning version?
The standard version has a fixed tuning. The Tuning version adds four switches per earpiece to raise the bass or the mids and treble.
How does it differ from the KZ VADER?
Both have three dynamic drivers per side, but the VADER PRO dedicates one to each band and extends the response: from about 5 Hz to about 45 kHz.
What is the advantage of the USB-C version?
It plugs straight into the USB-C port of phones, tablets and computers, with no adapter. The 3.5 mm jack versions need an adapter on phones without a headphone jack.
Do they have noise cancellation?
They do not have active noise cancellation. By sealing the ear canal with the ear tips they block outside noise passively.
What warranty do they come with?
3-year warranty against manufacturing defects, handled from Spain.
