Reviewed 11 Oct 2026 · Data from KZ’s official spec sheetsFor: Listening to music Gaming and films

The KZ DQS and the KZ EDX Pro cost the same and start from the same idea: a single dynamic driver per side and a detachable cable. What changes is the faceplate design, the driver and the colors available.

In short

  • Both have one dynamic driver per side, a detachable flat cable and a version with or without microphone.
  • The DQS has a metal faceplate with a semi-open design and a 5-micron diaphragm.
  • The EDX Pro uses a 10 mm driver with a dual magnetic circuit and comes in three colors.

The driver in each one

The DQS uses a dynamic driver with a diaphragm of about 5 microns, a four-layer copper and aluminum voice coil and a magnetic gap of about 0.15 mm. KZ gives it a balanced tuning, with a smooth transition between bass, mids and treble.

The EDX Pro uses a 10 mm dynamic driver with a dual magnetic circuit. According to KZ's specifications, this design gives more natural bass and more transparent treble.

What "semi-open" means

The DQS faceplate has a metal cover with openings instead of a sealed cap. In general, a semi-open design lets a little more sound through in both directions than a closed one. KZ does not publish isolation figures for either model, but keep it in mind if you mainly want them for the subway or a plane.

With any IEM, what matters most for isolation is that the ear tip seals the ear properly. We explain it in how to wear in-ear earphones properly.

Volume from a phone

Both play with volume to spare on any phone: 14 Ω and 110 dB for the DQS; 24 Ω and 112 dB for the EDX Pro. They do not need an amplifier.
