KZ EDZ: the evolution of the EDX range

The KZ EDZ are in-ear earphones with one dynamic driver per side, the most advanced version of the EDX range according to KZ. They introduce an ultra-wideband, long-excursion driver developed by the brand and a dual damping system. They come in black or white, without microphone, with microphone and 3.5 mm jack, or with microphone and USB-C plug.

  • 7 Hzto 45 kHz frequency response
  • 24 Ωimpedance
  • 107 dBsensitivity
  • 2-pindetachable silver-plated cable, 120 cm

Sound

Long-excursion driver and dual damping

The driver uses high-performance neodymium magnets to move the diaphragm with more force and control, giving tight, punchy bass.

The dual damping system combines a nozzle damper and a metal filter to control sibilance and smooth the treble without losing detail.

Sound

Response from 7 Hz to 45 kHz

The stated frequency response goes from 7 Hz to 45 kHz, with 24 Ω impedance and 107 dB/mW sensitivity, so they get loud enough from a phone.

KZ tunes them to a reference curve designed to compete with much more expensive earphones.

Connection

Dual microphone and USB-C version

The microphone versions use a cable with two high-definition silicon microphones, one at the top and one at the bottom, to pick up the voice well even when the cable hangs freely.

The USB-C version includes a sound card with sound modes: standard, standard gaming, immersive gaming and Hi-Fi. The 3.5 mm version does not have it.

Connection

Detachable cable and wireless mode

The cable is silver-plated copper, 120 cm long (±5 cm), and connects with a 0.75 mm 2-pin connector. With a KZ Bluetooth adapter they can be used without a cable.

The shell is resin with a metal inlay and is worn with the cable over the ear.

KZ EDZ frequently asked questions

How does it differ from the KZ EDX Pro X?

The KZ EDX Pro X uses a super-linear driver and single damping. The EDZ introduces an ultra-wideband, long-excursion driver, dual damping and a silver-plated cable.

Which version should I choose?

Without microphone for listening to music; with 3.5 mm microphone for phones and controllers with a headphone jack; with USB-C microphone to plug them in with no adapter and use the sound modes of its sound card.

What is the advantage of the USB-C version?

It plugs straight into the USB-C port of phones, tablets and computers, with no adapter. The 3.5 mm jack versions need an adapter on phones without a headphone jack.

Do they have noise cancellation?

They do not have active noise cancellation. By sealing the ear canal with the ear tips they block outside noise passively.

What warranty do they come with?

3-year warranty against manufacturing defects, handled from Spain.
